Shopping in Tokyo
Shopping in Tokyo is always fun and on my recent trip back I sure had a whole lotta fun! How kawaii are the shopping bags above? The bags alone are reason enough to want to shop in Tokyo. I thought I would share with you some of my favourite buys from vintage stores and boutiques that I love and always try to visit when I'm back in Tokyo, the land of super fun shopping!
As you can see I went prints crazy and this isn't all of it!!! Tokyo is great for finding cheap amazing vintage but its also great for finding hard to come by designer pieces too. Prices are pretty random to be honest, some places the vintage pieces are all $4, and other places your looking at $150 for similar stuff. It helps to know where to go and what to look for.
From left to right: Vintage scarf print blouse from Kinji in Harajuku for about $7. Malko Malka hot air balloon digital print top from their boutique in the LaForet department store in Harajuku for about $150. Vintage green polka dot shirt from Hikari in Koenji for about $40. Vintage tropical print bomber jacket from Kinji in Harajuku for about $9. Joy Rich cash money sheer shirt from Candy in Shibuya for about $130.
Accessories are so fun and cheap in Tokyo. Everywhere you look, especially in Harajuku, there are cute amazing things for not a lot of $$$. It pays to be careful of fakes but sometimes its hard to tell. I went eyeball crazy this trip.
From left to right: Tutuanna lace frilll socks from their Shibuya store 3 pairs for $10.50 (the 3rd pair is in the wash). Pastel pink shell jewellery holder from a vintage bric-a-brac boutique in Shimo Kitazawa for about 80cents. Strawberry keitei strap and hair tie Y100 each from a Y100 shop in Kamakura (so about $1 each). Eyeball necklace from Paris Kids in Harajuku for Y315 (so about $3.15). Grass print phone holder from Tokyu Hands for about $15. Eyeball ketei strap from a Y100 store. Purple fluffy ketei strap with gold chain from the Swimmer boutique in the LaForet department store in Harajuku for about $8. Eyeball badge from the Monomania boutique in the LaForet department store in Harajuku for about $6. I <3 Spank! badge from Spank in Koenji, gift from the designer. Vintage "I got this body from junk food" badge from Nincompoop Capacity in Koenji, gift from Henry (haha thanks Henry!). Manic Panic badge from Nadia in Harajuku for about $6. Eyeball ring, gift from Henry. Neon yellow necklace from Paris Kids in Harajuku for Y315. Bone necklace from the Monomania boutique in the LaForet department store in Harajuku for about $20.
I can't wait to style up all these pieces in outfits in the coming months, be sure to look out for me and my crazy printed shirts and eyeball accessories xoxo

OH MY GOD ALL OF THE THINGS!
ReplyDeleteloove that dollar shirt!
ReplyDeleteNice shopping. I love those 3 pair for 1000 yen sock and stocking shops in Harajuku - although I have no clue about the stocking sizing!
ReplyDeleteDid you get any of the fake tattoo stockings that are so everywhere? I have a love/hate relationship with them.
Kathrynoh: I love the fake tattoo tights but doubt I'd fit into them, my travel buddy who is a size 8 had trouble (she is pretty tall though).
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about doing a DIY job with a pair of sheers and a sharpie :)
ReplyDeleteLove your purchases - especially your fun printed shirts! Looking forward to seeing how you wear them :)

Love all of these accessories!! On my last trip I got eyeball badges as well, but the eyes are purple and blue. I dig the shirts too - popped into Kinji once but didn't give it the time it deserved, I think.
