Oh I dyed my hair pink using Fudge recently, it was meant to be a little more pastel but it will fade out and I kinda like this bright pink anyway. What do you think?
WOW look at that, I'm not wearing glasses! Yes I have finally got contact lenses. I've actually asked my optometrists over the years for contacts but was always told I probably couldn't wear them, but my new optometrist said I definitely could. There's actually no reason why I couldnt. I am so confused and angry about my previous optometrists saying I can't, was it purely and simply fat shaming - like there was no point in me wearing them as I was already fat and therefore ugly? I actually can't work it out. Sadly contacts wearing means I can't grow my nails long, at least not just yet as I still am getting used to putting them in. It took me over two hours on my first try to get them in but now it takes me under five minutes for both eyes and is getting easier and easier with each try. This means I can wear all my designer sunglasses now and not just stick to the few pairs that I had prescription lenses put into. Also hello fake eyelashes which I'm wearing above. I could never wear them previously as they would hit my glasses constantly. My makeup also needs to change slightly as it's a little too bold perhaps as I needed it to be stand out to be seen whilst wearing my specs. I'm still going to be wearing my glasses most days, contacts are just for special occasions or for days when I want to wear my sunnies. It's so weird to be able to clearly see my face when not wearing my glasses for the first time in years, which means I can clearly see what I'm doing when I'm doing my makeup too.
I can wear sunglasses and SEE! Thank you contact lenses!

If you follow me on instagram you would know that Lena Dunham followed me on instagram and commented on one of my photos "You are so fresh to death!!!' which was maybe the best moment of my life so far! So when I saw this 'fresh to death' rosette brooch pop up on my friend Phebe's Etsy store a few days later I knew I had to have it to celebrate that Lena Dunham moment forever and ever.
FRESH TO DEATH cos Lena Dunham said so!!! ✿♥‿♥✿

You are totes fresh to death, Lena Dunham is so right! I love your playfulness and positivity! Good inspiration for this new mom who often feels a little less than fresh to death lately ;). Oh, and I would name the pink poodle Stanley- no idea why!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning as usual. You are a dream! I did see that Lena commented and followed, what a compliment! Truly jealous. Yay you got contacts! It truly helps with changing up the look and also with swimming, doing active things, without worrying about damaging your specs!
ReplyDeleteI'd call the poodle Nanette, because she looks French :P.

Love the shoes! I have a similar pair in lavender. I would name the little pup Principessa. This is one of the pet names I call my own apricot poodle. It means princess in Italian. Although my poodle is a male he has an effeminate nature
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet ensemble. I think the poodle should be called cherry blossom of course! XX
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm in love with this look especially your dress! <3 <3
ReplyDeleteLet's name the poodle Kawaii which literally means cute :))

OMG, I love the last pictures! You look great! I know exactly how you feel about the contacts! I only wear them for special occasions or going to the pool. I have so many sunglasses yet unfortunately none of them are prescriptions so I can only wear them with contacts! The new hair color is amazing!
ReplyDeleteCookies, Chaos & C'est la Vie
I'd call a pink poodle Fairy Floss.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is such a winner :) Did you get given the clip just randomly by a girl on the street? I get given weird stuff by random people in Japan. The strangest was a wreath, a Christmas one not a funeral one! But it was in March.
Cute! Loving the Gorm & pink π
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so unique! And I really love all the pink.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the link between being refused contacts and being fat. You have lost a fan.
ReplyDeleteFat stigma is a real thing that fat people live with daily. The previous optometrists were all male. Contact lenses are considered a vanity product, if I am fat and already "ugly" in their eyes then there's no point in me trying to look beautiful to them. There was no actual medical reason for me not to be able to so it is honestly the only explanation.
DeleteYour optometrist refuses to do business because he is a male and you are fat. This goes deeper than I thought.
DeleteThat is honestly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Clearly you're not comfortable with yoir "curves" if you're so insecure as to link an optometrist with fat shaming. Get over yourself... Perhaps they were just a crappy optometrist? Not everyone is trying to oppress you.
ReplyDeleteI've had a pleasurable hour reading your blog even though I hate pink clothes (I have red hair) and like to follow the "rules" in my own dress choices (drab tones give me the same thrill as bright ones give you).
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that your treatment by previous optometrists wasn't mentioned earlier in the comments, then disappointed (but not surprised) that other anons seemed to think it impossible that a male optometrist could dismiss you that way for those reasons. Unfortunately, I think your analysis of why you were erroneously told contact lenses were unsuitable is utterly plausible. I'm sorry for that and for those comments. Honestly, does qualifying as an optometrist make a person immune to the kind of stigmatising attitudes that are expressed by people in all other professions!? I could say more about which problems are in whose heads and whose vision needs correcting but I leave my frustration there. Almost makes me want to wear a pink dress to clash with my red hair in solidarity!
In sisterhood,
from the drab dressing, rule followers.
